June 16th - Book & Contest!

THE PARADOX BOOK IS ALMOST DONE!

I spent many hours putting the book together today and it's just about complete. However, I can fit a maximum of four more pages into the book, so I thought:

Why not have a fanart contest?!

All fanart I've already received is being included in the book, but I wanted to give others the opportunity to be included in the print version. And a contest would be fun! :D

PARADOX Fanart Contest
Prize: A free copy of the book
Running until: July 1st (unless an extension is requested)
Requirements: It must be 300 DPI or higher (anything smaller can't be printed), and it must be Paradox fanart--beyond that, anything goes!

Final printed size in the book will be determined by how many entries I get, as I cannot exceed 52 pages.

As for the book, I should start accepting preorders soon after the contest is over. Currently, the estimated price per copy is $6. If you already know you're interested in the book, please EMAIL ME at sotwnisey@gmail.com expressing interest and how many copies you would like. Merely commenting on deviantART or on Smack Jeeves will not guarantee that I'll get your request! D:

More to come!

NOTE: I came back to dA once again, so check me out there too! .-.;

May 5th

There’s a lot going on right now. @__@; Well, It certainly feels like a lot anyway. The hubby and I finally decided that we cant afford to live in Denver anymore, and we’re looking to move back to Colorado Springs by the end of the month. Moving is a lot of work, but the amount of money that we’ll save will make it well worth the trouble. Now there’s the trouble of finding jobs in CS…

The only other real problem that comes up with this is that I had just decided to start updating TGP on a regular basis. T__T I’m still going to do what I can, and will still try and update on Mondays and Thursdays. But regular updates will probably slow/stop during the move and I’ll have to work like crazy to get caught up afterwards, especially if I still want to have chapter 1 finished by Nan Desu Kan in September.

But moving needs to happen. We miss food.

THE GOOD PRINCE

Page 9 is up, and page 10 should be up on Thursday. Pages 11-12 are sketched and things are looking good for a regular update schedule so far (knock on wood!). This week is my test period to see if I can manage 2 pages a week. :D

There’s also a wallpaper in the works of the characters from the prologue of chapter 1, Sicha and Anale. Not sure what I’ll do with it yet, but I definitely want to finish it. :3

PERSONAL ART

Not much, just some doodles really. Haven’t scanned anything in yet, I’ll try for some next post.

Apr. 23rd

These past few days have been a bit surreal. A friend of mine that I knew through Final Fantasy XI died on Tuesday. He was only about my age, and it was so sudden. D: The internet is pretty amazing, ya know? The depth of the relationships we can develop with people by simply typing messages back and forth--it seems kinda silly that we as people can become so attached with so little contact. Nevertheless, we'll miss him and always remember him. <3>

THE GOOD PRINCE

Page 7 went up yesterday, and page 8 is ready to be inked. I'm a little sad that updates have been so slow, but I got unnecessarily lazy last week, and well, ya know the story of this week. :P More pages soon!

PERSONAL ART
Been working on chibis lately! O_o So much anatomy shoved down my throat at school, I couldn't even draw any for years. But I think I've worked out something that I like again, so I've been drawing a bunch of em. There's actually going to be a TGP chibi series (>_>; ), that I'd like to use for profiles or something on the website (later, anyway, when I've actually introduced some CHARACTERS). Also more Gaia avatar art. xP;

Apr. 10th

Not much to update with since I just posted yesterday. >.>; However, I did something important last night, so I wanted to post it. I CGed something for the first time in FOR-EVAR. No really, I think the last time I truly CGed something was over two years ago. It was my first time using openCanvas again in even longer than that.

I admit, I'm captivated by the overall feeling of Gaia Online's Easter event this year (not counting the fact that it's freakin' INVOLVING for once). So I was inspired to do some "quick" avatar art of myself (quick being 3-4 hours, which was longer than I thought I'd spend, but not very much for a CG O: ).

COMMISSIONS

Queue List

(You will receive a high-quality scan of the image. Base price is for one character with either no background or simple background.)
  • $15 Sketch
  • $25 Inked
  • $35 CG
  • $40-50 Marker and/or watercolor (price varies depending on materials)
  • +$5 for multiple characters (2-5)
  • +$5 for background
There is also what I have nicknamed a HQ service. For an added cost, you will receive the original artwork in the mail. If you are interested in this service, please request it.

INFORMATION
  • My preferred dimensions are 8 1/2x11, 9x12 and 11x14. Smaller is okay (and may even reduce the price!), but anything larger will not fit in my scanner and may delay shipping/incur extra fees. Feel free to ask if you have any questions about this.
  • Sketches on Canson sketch paper with mechanical pencil
  • Inks on Borden & Riley #234 with Windsor & Newton india ink and Copic Multiliners
  • CG in Photoshop CS2 and/or openCanvas 2/3
  • Markers on Borden & Riley #234 with Copic and Prismacolor markers
  • Watercolors on Canson watercolor or Bristol Vellum with Grumbacher and Prismacolor paints and pencils
To avoid excessive work load which could lead to delayed completion of your artwork, I will only accept three commissions at a time. Any after that will be put on a queue list, and you will be notified as soon as your request moves up to the working list.

WHAT I WILL DRAW:
  • Shoujo/cute things :D
  • Bookmarks and similar things
  • Your own original characters/ideas
  • My own original characters/ideas ( :D;;; )
  • Concept art
  • Avatars/customized MMO characters (IE. Gaia Online, Ragnarok Online, Final Fantasy XI)
  • Comic pages (specialized pricing that varies with request)
  • Up to 16+ rating (This mostly pertains to violence and sexual content--language and drug use are okay within reasonable limits)
  • Fanart under appropriate legal terms (though I'm not sure why you would want to commission fanart, as long as we talk it out and I won't get in legal trouble, it should be fine)
WHAT I WILL NOT DRAW:
  • 18+ rating (I will draw some smut, but extra fees may occur. However, no excessive blood/violence or drug use.)
If you have questions about whether your request is within bounds or not, feel free to ask. If you ask nicely, I'm pretty reasonable about everything. :D

PLACING AN ORDER

Email me at sotwnisey@gmail.com with your information:
  • Desired dimensions, media, etc.
  • A detailed description of what you want (I want the artwork to turn out as much like you want it as possible, so please provide as much information as you can)
  • Sketches, character sheets, etc. if available (I don't care if you can draw or not, anything helps! If this is as simple as a stick figure in a particular pose you're thinking of, send it!)
  • For HQ orders, your mailing address (currently limited to North America)
  • What method of payment you would prefer (I accept Paypal and money order)
  • Any other notes or information
I will email you back asap, but please allow up to several days for order processing. Once we have met an agreement on the image, I will begin thumbnails/rough sketches of your idea, which I will then email you. This is to make sure we're on equal grounds before I begin the final artwork, and will make sure you get the image you want (please allow up to a week for sketches).

After we have agreed on the final image, I will request payment and begin the final artwork when said payment is received. Depending on your request, please allow anywhere from a week to a month for final art to be completed (if complications arise and more time is necessary, I will contact you). You will receive your high-quality scan immediately, and in the case of HQ orders, the original artwork within a week (or as standard shipping allows).

FINAL NOTES

I know this is a lot of reading, but I want to make this as efficient and enjoyable as possible for both of us. I'm actually very reasonable about nearly anything, so please ask me any questions you may have. Communication makes for better pictures, and I want you to get your money's worth. Thank you for your time, and I hope to work with you soon~

Apr. 9th

Well, after over a month of no updates, I finally have some stuff to say. I got a job at a brand-new DSW a few weeks back, which is helping. It only counts as seasonal (since they hired way more people than they need to open the store on time), and the hours fail until I either get canned or keep the job after the three-month period, but like I said, every bit is helping.

PARADOX
Still hiatus-ness, though I'm currently kinda sorta working on a little project for it. Evil Miss Amiko of SmackJeeves posted a link to the Ren'Py visual novel engine, which has evilly inspired me to try my hand at making one. So I'm currently in the script-writing and graphics-creation of a Paradox visual novel short. Don't look forward to it. >.>;; No guarantees it'll ever exist, but if it does it'll be neato-spedito.

THE GOOD PRINCE
Page 6 is mostly inked and pages 7-8 are fully sketched, one panel of page 9 sketched. I share a drafting table with a miniatures painter of course, so sometimes the pots of paint and models scattered across the surface deter me from inking. .__.; But I shall do my best~!

PERSONAL ART
Not really a personal art thing I suppose, but I'm FINALLY, after well over five years of thinking about it, accepting COMMISSIONS. I uh, I need the money. Badly. And I'd like to have something to draw, been lacking in ideas for a while. Been doing some sketches for the VN, but not much beyond that.

March 6th

No luck on that application (gotta love now hiring signs in windows of places that aren't hiring), but I turned in another last night, and WILL get around to calling the new DSW soon to apply there. @__@;; Figures that I'd have to CALL them, I hate phones. T__T I'd rather see someone in person.

Had a bit of a breakthrough a couple nights ago in terms of artistic creativity and state-of-mind. Updated The Good Prince today with both page 3 and the cover, both of which I finished this morning (well, morning for me going until 1-2pm). >_>;;

PARADOX

Hiatus.

THE GOOD PRINCE
Updated today! Page 3 and the cover both went up, and page 4 is currently being inked. I'm trying to up the pace on these pages because I want to get this comic going quickly, and for a few reasons. Reason #1, I love this story and I can't wait to actually start telling it rather than just the intro. Reason #2, I'd like to get at least one chapter out of the way so I can submit TGP to Strawberry Comics and maybe get somewhere further than just SmackJeeves with this.

Hoping for another update soon~

PERSONAL ART
Haven't really drawn anything new, but finishing the TGP cover, which was 95% traditional, felt really good and it feels like
I got some drawing done anyway. Still really itching to CG something.

March 2nd

I decided that I wasn't crazy about LJ, so I'm moving my update journalblogathinger here instead. Life is kinda crappy right now. T__T; Still no job and we had to use our tax return to pay rent for this month. No more tax return, so I need a job by the end of this month.

Coming to terms with quitting school is still a work in progress. I'm starting to enjoy drawing again, but it's taking its time. My poor webcomics haven't been touched since Christmas and I want to get them going again, it's just the, well, work part, ya know? Some days drawing is as fun as it used to be, others I dread the thought of it.

Gonna turn in another job application today, so I pray it'll go well. Can't really afford to go jobless much longer, literally. I'd be more confident if I'd EVER had much luck getting a job before. T_T

PARADOX
On unofficial hiatus for now. There's no motivation. Next story might just be a sketch comic, I'm getting really bogged down in the inking and toning for TGP. I'd like to tell a sto
ry that I can just sketch instead of going to finish.

THE GOOD PRINCE

Pages 3-6 are sketched, and 3 is about 1/4 inked. Life is kind of in the way, and it sucks. Hope for another update this month? D:

PERSONAL ART

Been doing a fair amount of MMO sketches and mindless doodles. Completed one nice sketch of some very inappropriate Gaia fanart... (not pictured, as I haven't scanned it yet) >__>; Been itching to CG something lately.
